Initiative by CCDF

The area of Chander Vihar & Mandawli, Patparganj is home to several hundred children, most of whom are working as beggars, rag pickers, workers in factories, or assisting their parents/families in sundry jobs. Often, they have little choice but to work, given the dire poverty they live in and the families or sibling they must support. Many of these are forced to work under very exploitative conditions by strongmen who link earnings with space to live and exploit these children. For example, junk dealers of the area do not allow the children to go to study as they may give up this profession. Besides, a sizable number of these children are also forced to live in Delhi under very stressful circumstances, which also stops them from trying to access education or a better life.

We are confident that the impact of this initiative would be beneficial for the human being as a whole as through this our main objective is the overall development of street children, besides this, it will contribute perpetually towards the development of our society as well as our nation through an educated task-force.

Child Care & Development Foundation (CCDF) undertook a small initiative with about 114 of these children in order to help them to access education and to solve such problems as stopped them from coming to the classes we hold. These classes were held in the afternoon, near their place of residence. The syllabus was structured to help a mixed group learn a basic minimum requirement.
